Brewster's Roost in Animal Crossing: New Horizons Could Be Different From the Original

Brewster's return, as well as the addition of The Roost, have been highly anticipated additions to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. How would the game deal with the café in the long run?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will include the return of Brewster and The Roost, a café that was previously featured in previous titles in the franchise, which has been one of the most highly requested additions to the game. Although the feature has not yet been implemented into New Horizons, this hasn't stopped fans from speculating about its possible return in the future. Was there anything Animal Crossing New Horizons Bells could have done differently if they had brought The Roost back into the series?

When it came to previous games, The Roost primarily served as a platform for players to experiment with different types of gameplay. Gyroids, for example, were a unique ACNH item that could be dug out of the ground and used to add musical tones to the player's home, and players could store them there. It also served as a venue for K. K. Slider's concerts prior to the town square's use in New Horizons: The Final Frontier. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, players could even get a job at The Roost, where they would serve coffee to the villagers and any special guests who came through the door. More features were unlocked as more time was spent with Brewster, which served as an additional incentive to develop a friendship with him throughout the course of the video game.

Despite how many people have asked for The Roost and Brewster to return in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it has yet to be re-introduced despite the fact that the game has been out for a year or more now. Even though New Horizons has already received a number of significant updates, it appears that Nintendo has been putting less and less emphasis on the game in recent months - as evidenced by the fact that this year's E3 Expo came and went with little mention of the game's long-term development. There have been a few leaks about potential upcoming changes, such as island expansions, but so far there has been no official word on them, leaving plenty of room for speculation about what the potential new features might look like.

What Brewster's Roost Could Be Used For If New Horizons Got Their Way
The café has previously been found beneath the museum in previous Animal Crossing games, and it appears that this will be the case if the café is included in New Horizons as well. Due to the length of time that the game has been available, as well as the meticulousness with which some players tend to go about island customization and excessive terraforming, expecting them to find room for an entirely new building seems unlikely - unless, of course, The Roost were to arrive after that rumored Animal Crossing island expansion update. In light of the fact that K. K. Slider now has his own space in which to perform concerts, New Horizons is unlikely to create a new space for him in The Roost, which means that the café could be small enough to easily fit into the existing museum structure.

A unique way to introduce returning characters from the series who have yet to appear in New Horizons could be provided by bringing back the option to play as a barista. Non-playable characters (NPCs) such as Joan and Pelly, who no longer have a role in the franchise's most recent title, could be brought back as customers in The Roost. New Horizons could also make the café more of a minigame, which would add more variety to the gameplay and help to keep New Horizons feeling new and interesting. As an alternative, it could simply be used to allow players to further develop their relationships with the villagers on their respective islands. It appears that allowing Brewster and The Roost to return to Animal Crossing: New Horizons would be a positive step forward for the game, regardless of how they go about doing so.
