The tagline was unavoidable: Blizzard's taking us back to hell. Diablo 2: Resurrected is a remaster of the classic action RPG and its growth Lord of Destruction, with fresh 3D graphics and Diablo 2 Items completely recreated cinematics.
"Diablo 2 is a really important game to Blizzard," explained Diablo main Rod Fergusson. "It helped define the ARPG genre. It feels like a great moment to bring back this game."
Beneath the new images, which support 4K and higher refresh rates including 144 Hz, this is almost precisely the same Diablo 2 it has always been. The sound has been remastered for Dolby 7.1, but it is still using the same recordings from the first game.
Blizzard has made a few new quality of life additions, such as a shared thing stash for all your personalities to pull from and auto-looting. However, Fergusson stressed that its additions in Diablo 2: Resurrected are optional toggles--in case you still wish to pick up gold and loot manually, then you absolutely can.
Diablo 2: Resurrected is coming to PC and consoles in 2021, with cross platform progress (TBD on that consoles, exactly, that includes). Eager helldivers are going to have the ability to Buy Diablo 2 Resurrected Items register for a specialized alpha before release. Blizzard told us it will price $39.99 on PC.
