Zhou maybe even underplays the battle which NetEase and eve echoes isk CCP took on with this mobile port. Until today, getting games like Old School Runescape on a mobile platform has been considered something of a technical marvel. The cellular space comes with a massive assortment of hardware, users that are on the move, relations that might simply drop off without warning, and a myriad of additional limitations that CCP has not had to overcome in their time. Yet, the team believe they've got this covered.
"There are so many challenges to bring that huge combat from the PC to mobile but we expect we could reach the exact technical heights that EVE Online already has achieved"The on the go server changes aren't the only thing which EVE Echoes has changed up for players coming into New Eden on a little screen. The team in Netease has invested a significant amount of time changing the in game UI, streamlining it and making sure new players can get to grip with their ships without a requirement for a mouse in sight.
That really isn't the adjustments I got excited about, however. Players who watched a current EVE Echoes Stream will have caught a glimpse of this Yan Jung, an older race that's coming back to EVE Echoes.
"The Yang Jung is one of the ancient factions of this forgotten age of New Eden. The facts in EVE Online do not really tell us a whole lot about the Yan Jung but it's a chance to ring something fresh and add even more diversity to the EVE experience. A number of our team are Asian and they love the idea of integrating oriental civilization into the game. It will hopefully help to help expand the reach of EVE Online in many ways and bring it to a larger population."
The yield of the Yan Jung makes a bold statement this is not just EVE for old school players. NetEase and CCP spoke repeatedly of brining the core EVE experience to cellular but have definitely made some modifications to the way the game plays out. While Wei Su confirmed that players can play"however they want" construction corporations or going out to mine the advantages of space, EVE Echoes has a couple of nice additions, and this does not just mean additional skins and cool looking new boats.
One of those big exclusive additions to EVE Echoes you won't discover in EVE Online is Outposts. Outposts are a space structure that individual players can use in adverse areas such as low sec and null sec as a staging ground and buy eve isk safe haven. Wei Su also confirmed the Outposts will include more than only a docking bay.
