The creator of the controversial Reddit article detailing how to kill Venezuelan RuneScape players at RS gold, who wishes to be understood just as Sam, tells Polygon that his post was misinterpreted by viewers, and was just supposed to be a"dark joke" comparing Venezuelan RuneScape players to robots. He says he was amazed at how fast the thread escalated to remarks that are racist. Asked if he felt guilty regarding the responses to the ribbon, and the impact that encouraging RuneScape players to aim RuneScape players from Venezuela could have on this group, he states:"I mean, if there was a situation where someone lost four hours of farming, then I'd absolutely feel guilty. Let me be clear: I do believe [this ] if anyone doing so or me was actually having an impact on individuals' lives doing so, we would feel guilty. I think what scares people is the potential of the affecting people, though that's unrealistic."
Sam notes that many Venezuelans play enjoyment rather than gold and lots of the Venezuelan RuneScape players we have spoken to say the same, that they play for pleasure or gain from RuneScape by enjoying it legally instead of by adhering to intensive gold farming methods. Those RuneScape players are eager to voice their worries about the animosity they face, and state that while they are aware gold farming is against RuneScape's terms and conditions, they are simply playing this way because they don't have any other option. "a lot of people don't know why we farm gold at RuneScape; they think we do it as a hobby and do not envision the actual reason for the reason why we do it."
"I really appreciate that, and these people usually understand the reasons why Venezuelans sell gold in RuneScape.''``I have seen a real combination [of remarks ]," says Perez. "Some horrible #censored# from people who are racist or'trolling' but at the other end people who seem really keen to support you. Last month another sort stranger contributed $1k to my [bitcoin] account because he wanted to purchase food for my community" This stranger has been in touch to make this a recurring contribution. Acts of kindness toward Venezuelan RuneScape players aren't uncommon. One RuneScape participant in the Netherlands noticed an influx of Spanish-speaking users, also reached out to help.
"I essentially try to help [Venezulan rs 2107 gold players] since they deserve better within their real life," he says. "I offer them help and perform giveaways because I have enough money. It helps them so much. They all barely speak English, so it is difficult for them to learn from themselves too." He doesn't feel that the increase in RuneScape players is having a negative influence on RuneScape, but that it's really helping the in-game market. He tells us he has met with a selection of RuneScape players running the gamut from people who perform RuneScape to help feed their whole families to those who play enjoyment but will turn into farming when they need money.
