I suppose that my point being that I think ticks should still be about, and they don't NEED to be faster (the global cooldown on OSRS gold abilities is faster than FF14 by way of example, though that game has lots of off-cooldown abilities you may use immediately.) But clearly RuneScape has dozens of different tick rates happening at the same time, so why not uniform them better or remove a number of them entirely in exchange for actual timers?

One thing about server capacity problems,they are due to overpopulating hardware servers with virtual servers. In essence, they are trying to jam way to much on their servers at a time that is specified.

It is much more affordable for almost any data intensive organization to twist up virtual servers rather then having a physical hardware server for every single world. Over doing virtual servers is very common as companies attempt to obtain more customers without increasing prices. Solution? To have more physical servers each running fewer virtual servers. This would have to be done before other modifications or tick changes to RuneScape that may demand server care.

This one I am interested in. Has anyone talked about the technical side of why this occurs and the choices Jagex has? Jagex has talked about Another two two themes I know.
