U4GM Explains Doedre's Undoing in PoE 2

I wasted more currency than I want to admit trying to make Frogmancer feel good with random minion gear. The build is not a normal Witch summoner, and buying generic upgrades with Path of Exile 2 Currency before understanding the shield interaction is an easy trap. Doedre's Undoing is the entire engine: your Hex casts become frog production, so clear speed comes from curse coverage and kill chaining rather than standing back while permanent minions do the work.

Why the 0.5.0 Frogmancer actually clears maps

The practical loop is simple but a little awkward at first. Cast Despair into the middle of a dense pack, get the first kill, then let the curse explosion spawn toxic frogs. When Hex Bloom catches nearby enemies, one clean opening cast can turn into several frog waves instead of just three or four bodies on the ground. It feels amazing in Breach-style density, Abyss cracks, and maps with tightly packed rares. It feels much worse against scattered stragglers, where you are repeatedly casting for tiny returns.

Despair is my preferred trigger because it is fast, broad enough to start chains, and naturally fits the chaos plan. Hex Bloom is the clear-speed link I would protect first. Minion Damage gives the frogs a straightforward damage increase, while Unbound Ailments helps their poison pressure stay relevant after the initial spawn. Meat Shield is more situational than people claim: it is useful when enemies are constantly reaching you, but it can make the frog behavior feel less aggressive during easy farming.

What scales the frogs and what players often misread

Do not build this as pure energy shield just because you are carrying a focus. Frog damage and durability benefit from your Intelligence and total Chaos Resistance, which makes hybrid defensive rares unusually efficient here. More Intelligence is not only a character stat; it feeds the summon package. Chaos Resistance is also doing more than preventing a miserable death to poison-heavy content.

1. Prioritize Hex coverage before chasing small minion damage rolls.

2. Cap Chaos Resistance before spending heavily on luxury corrupted gear.

3. Use Minion Movement Speed when maps have awkward terrain layouts.

4. Keep a second setup ready for bosses with poor add density.

The boss problem is where hype clips leave out the annoying part. Frogmancer melts high-health targets once poison stacks are rolling, but it needs enough frogs on the target to get there. A boss arena with adds is comfortable because every add can restart your chain. A clean single-target encounter can feel slow until your gear and gem levels are doing real work. I would not call it a cheap pinnacle farmer on day one; it is a mapping build first, then a scaling project.

Gear purchases that matter more than flashy uniques

A wand with +1 to Chaos Spell Gems and Minion Maximum Life is usually a better early upgrade than chasing another novelty unique. Rings with Minion Movement Speed are surprisingly noticeable because frogs wasting seconds pathing around walls means fewer poison applications. Save premium trades for a weapon, solid Chaos Resistance rares, and enough defenses to keep casting in dangerous packs. A POE 2 Mirror of Kalandra tier item will not fix bad curse placement, so learn to cast ahead of incoming monsters before throwing money at the build.

if you're hopping back into PoE 2 this week, come hang out and compare what's actually moving, because the U4GM page at www.u4gm.com/path-of-exile-2/currency has been handy when you just need currency without digging through ten trade tabs, and people here usually share builds, prices, and the occasional bad RNG story, kinda honestly.
