Police said the locals hurled stones at government forces while they were trying to zero in on militants in the village.
All educational institutions in the region were close down to prevent student protests. In wake of the strike and restrictions, shops and businesses remained shut. Public transport was also off the roads and train services in the region were suspended.
Mobile internet services in the region have been blocked since Tuesday night.
