QUITO, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadoran Sports Minister Jose Cevallos Tuesday said hooligans who attacked members of the nation's popular Barcelona football team while in Peru should be penalized.
Barcelona was in Peru in the lead up to its rematch Wednesday against Alianza Lima, as part of the Copa Sudamericana (South American Cup) when they were attacked.
"We are offended by this regrettable attack against Barcelona's delegation (and) we are going to file the corresponding complaint with the authorities, so that this never happens again Nike Air Force 1 White ," the minister said via Twitter. "Those responsible should be punished."
According to Peruvian media reports, the incident took place Monday night outside Lima's international airport, where hooligans dressed as Alianza fans attacked members of Barcelona's delegation, including coach Ruben Israel, as they were about to board a bus to take them to their hotel.
The match between Barcelona and Alianza at Lima's Alejandro Villanueva Stadium is still on.
Barcelona defeated Alianza 3-0 in the first leg on Aug. 21 in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

NAIROBI, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Three UN human rights experts have called on Kenyans to maintain the highest standards of behavior before, during and after Tuesday's general elections to avoid a repeat of the violence that took place in 2007.
Special Rapporteurs on freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, Annalisa Ciampi Nike Air Force 1 , on the situation of human rights defenders, Michel Forst, and on summary executions, Agnes Callamard said the East Africa nation has taken important steps towards peacefully resolving tensions in the context of elections.
"We call on the Kenyan authorities to do their utmost to ensure peaceful elections as well as a free and fair voting process tomorrow (Tuesday)," the experts said in a joint statement released on Monday night.
"Respect for people's fundamental rights and freedoms -- including the right to vote, freedom of expression Cheap Air Force 1 , association and assembly are the key to free and fair elections and public participation," they noted.
The experts said Kenya had made significant progress since 2007 when the country plunged into chaos over disputed election results, in strengthening democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
"However, in the light of recent incidents of political violence, the rise of hate speech and prevailing tensions Air Force 1 Sale , we emphasize the importance of all those involved in the process to commit themselves to peaceful conduct during and after elections," they said.

They also highlighted the responsibility of security forces to facilitate the holding of peaceful demonstrations, and to hold constructive dialogue with protesters in an effort to defuse any tensions.
